There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw was from the hand of God. Ecclesiastes 2:24

Adoption Update

Just thought we should post an update on our adoption plans.

We DO still want to adopt!

Adoption is more than just a way to grow a family. It's a calling and it is still very much on our hearts. I suppose if we don't get matched before September we will wait a few months after the baby is here to continue pursuing anything.

Our social worker sends us potential situations and we continue to look through the state waiting lists online for young children/sibling groups in foster care.
We inquire on the few that seem to be possibilities. Children under 5 yrs aren't frequently listed online, though there are some.
Ultimately, it's the child's social worker or a committee that decides who they feel is the best match.

We are eager to see who the Lord sends our way!

Assunta Store Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diapers
to support China's Special Children

Several months ago a friend showed me some of her baby things and among them were
these diapers from Assunta Store. I immediately fell in love them.
They were the same style I used with Doretha with the added plus of  gussets in the legs
and more snaps for more adjustability. Plus they had newborn sizes in the design I like best and I have not found anything else I cared for in newborn sizes. And they are, oh, so cute!!
Little Flower's Project originally started making and using them for their
special needs orphans. They now sell them and other items to help support their children.

I placed my order on a Friday evening. They say to expect 3-10 weeks for
delivery due to shipping via air internationally. Eleven days later, they arrived!

The ladies in this house were thrilled - The only male rolled his eyes. :)
He completely fails to see how wonderful a good cloth diaper is!
Well, although he's not a cloth diaper fan, he says he does understand.
He just doesn't get a kick out of diapers, period, and says, with all seriousness,
he's been permanently traumatized by a soaking incident during church
by his daughter some years ago. :)
I'm not convinced it was cloth because I often used disposable on Sundays -
but it may have been.

My order consisted of newborn bamboo/microfiber inserts (at left, see pic below),
one-size bamboo/microfiber inserts (at right),
2 dry/wet bags (in front) and newborn covers (back).
They also added a one-size pocket diaper gift (back on far right).
I'm not a fan of pocket diapers - they're not reusable when just wet - but we thought that was neat. :)

I'll also mention that these cost much less than other popular
cloth diaper brands. The one-size covers I used with Doretha cost $14.95 each - Assunta's one-size are (were) $6.99 each. They are $5.99 in the newborn size.
My original inserts, made of a soft, polyester stay-dry layer and 3 microfiber layers are $5 each
(they come in a package of 3 for $15). My newborn inserts were $2.29 each and made of a soft bamboo layer and also microfiber for the same stay-dry effect.
They are cuter, in my opinion, and I love that the sales help care for special needs orphans.
Here's a close up look at my favorite diapers:
They come in a variety of cute designs. You can get poly or minky covers.
The two below are both the soft minky - but I got both.
inner gussets:
My friend said she has never had a blow out leak out of these and the reviews on the Assunta Store website say they contain newborn explosions great.

This is a comparison of the diaper I used with Doretha and my new order.
You can see they are the same idea and I absolutely loved using them.
They take all the work out of cloth diapering! The covers can be reusable when just wet, just put a dry insert in it, and their water proof insides easily wipe out if you wish.
The cover on the left is a one-size. Doretha was 2 months old when I started using them on her; snapped at the smallest setting. We had been given enough disposables up until then that I didn't try them sooner, but they were plenty bulky, anyway. Sadly, Assunta Store does not have the one-size tuckables in stock right now. They do have pocket diapers, basic covers and a fitted bamboo cover,
that comes with 2 inserts, in one-size though.
On the right is the newborn cover I just got. I look forward to so much less bulk on a small baby!

This is a newborn bamboo/microfiber insert from Assunta:
The newborn insert compared to a newborn "flush, compost, or toss" insert from Gdiapers.
I thought the disposable insert might be handy at times and ordered them when they were on sale a few months ago.
This is a comparison between my original "stay-dry" one-size insert, on the left
and the bamboo/microfiber one-size insert on the right.
And finally, the one-size "stay-dry" on top, one-size bamboo/microfiber center,
and newborn bamboo/microfiber on bottom.

Below is one of the dry/wet bags I just got. I wish I had one of these before!
There is a zippered pocket in front and another zippered pocket behind
for convenient storage of clean and used diapers.
There is also a tab at the top with a snap to secure it to something, like a stroller,
in times when a whole diaper bag may be un-needed.
I ordered 2 to have an extra when one is in the wash.
They are made of the same material as the diapers.

If you ever consider using cloth diapers or trying something new,
please! check out Assunta Store!:
